Wetlands – such as tidal marshes, bogs, fens, forested swamps, and seagrasses – play a critical role in mitigating and adapting to the impacts of a changing environment, supporting fish and wildlife, protecting communities from flooding, providing recreational opportunities, and bolstering local businesses. Coastal wetlands like salt marshes and peatlands stand out among wetlands for their ability to store vast amounts of carbon in their soils. The Wetland Carbon Network brings together state officials, practitioners, academia, and non-governmental organizations to connect science, policy, and practice, with the intent of building a community to advance conservation, restoration, and sustainable management of coastal and high-carbon freshwater wetlands like peatlands. By signing up, you’ll receive our quarterly newsletter, updates on upcoming webinars, and curated resources highlighting emerging science, policy developments, innovative management approaches and tools. Collectively, this information will help us leverage the power of wetlands for climate mitigation and the many other benefits they provide for people and nature. |
